Dr. Gilberto Garcia taught Chicano Studies at Eastern Washington University and, as of 2020, teaches at Central Washington University. During his academic career, he wrote at least two articles on Latin American baseball players in the early-20th century including "Louis ‘Count’ Castro: The Story of a Forgotten Latino Major Leaguer" and "Beisboleros: Latin Americans and Baseball in the Northwest, 1914-1937." In his article about Northwest baseball, he thanks staff at Eastern Washington University's graphics department.
