Description
Lorraine D. "Larry" Horton was born in Lockridge Township, Iowa in 1922. He grew up in Sigourney, Iowa as his father worked laying highway. After graduating from High school, he worked as a salesman. He was drafted into the United States Army during World War II. He landed in the United Kingdom, where he met his wife Vera Joyce Hancock in Plymouth prior to the invasion of Normandy. They married after the invasion in January 1945. Horton participated in the invasion as a radio operator with the 158th Field Artillery Battalion. Horton died in Spokane, Washington in August 28, 1998.
