Abstract

Community Builders is based on a series of oral histories conducted by Eastern Washington University's Women's Studies Program in the early 1980s. The book and the oral histories chronicle the lives of women living in Cheney, Washington. This short volume is organized into the following themes: volunteering, libraries and museums, parks, health and human services, city government, environment, schools, the university, working women, agriculture, national women's movements, and women in the Great Depression.

Project directors were Dixie Massengale, Historian, Norma Smith, and Gertrude (Lee) Swedberg, and the project editor was Janet Anderson.

The recorded oral histories may be found in EWU's Archives and Special Collections Women's Studies Program Records (EWU 984-0094).

A scan of a different annotated copy of Community Builders was uploaded on October 1, 2024.
