Description
Canada geese caught in a net by a net-canon, laying on the shore of Windmill Pond, at Turnbull National Wildlife Refuge. The purpose of catching the geese was in order to band them during the banding season at Turnbull. The net-canon used to catch the geese was borrowed from the Lower Souris Refuge in North Dakota. A total of 113 Canada geese was caught during the 1952 banding season. Windmill Pond can be seen to the right, and in the distance, some of the buildings at Turnbull headquarters can be seen. A 1951 Willys-Overland 1-ton pickup is standing on the road leading back to headquarters.
