Description
During the banding season at Turnbull National Wildlife Refuge, from mid September through November, various duck traps were set to trap birds for banding. The refuge had two 10 x 10 walk-in traps and of them was placed by Winslow Pond, which is the one in the photo. A great horned owl got caught in a this duck trap and according to the annual report from Turnbull that year, the owl entered the trap through the tunnel entrance and no other birds were found with the owl in the trap.
