Description
One of the Pine Creek Lakes at Turnbull National Wildlife Refuge, Cheney, Washington, 1951. At the center, in the water, mats of water-weed are visible. According to the annual report from Turnbull from the year the photo was taken, Turnbull staff made sure plenty of water plants was available for the bird population to eat, such as the sago pondweed, hardstem bullrush, spikerush, sedge, coontail and duckweed.
