Abstract
In this letter to his sister, Evans writes that he is happy that the 66th has returned and recalls those who have died of disease and enemy fire over the past year. He also reports that he has been promoted to first lieutenant and his unit is expected to travel back to New Orleans. He expresses some disappointment that he will not see inland portions of Texas.
A typed transcript follows the original handwritten letter in this digital file.
