Paul died December 20, 1998, in an auto accident near Piercy, California. He was born July 31, 1937, in Jersey City, N.J. Paul worked as a jumper out of Winthrop through the 1961 season, jumped the following year out of Fairbanks, and then went to work for the Forest Service in the Southwest. He returned to North Cascades for the 1974 and 1975 seasons, then jumped out of Alaska again from 1976 through 1984. He was a Marine Corps veteran 1955-57.
