Spence died of cancer on July 31, l996 in McCall, ID. He had earned his degree in Forestry from the Univ. of Idaho and later served two tours as an Airborne Ranger in Vietnam. Spence was awarded the Silver Star, Bronze Star, and the Purple Heart and retired as a Lt. Colonel. He jumped at McCall 1952-55.
