Description

A parachute is visible at the top of a pine tree. The photograph caption reads, "Okanogan National Forest. Jumper Bus Derry held suspended near top of 115' ponderosa pine. Note emergency chest pack opened by contact with tree. "N.W. Fork Wolf Creek." This photograph was taken during smokejumping experiments in Winthrop, Washington in 1939. This image is a mounted print used for reference by the National Archives.
