Abstract
In this letter to his family, Evans writes about an attack on a Confederate fort located on the Arkansas River. He notes that gunship fire proceeded artillery fire, which proceeded the advance of troops and eventual taking of the fort. He writes that nine from the regiment died in the attack, but that illness seems to be taking a greater toll on the unit.
