Obituary
Mike, 81, died January 23, 2017, at his home in Moscow, Idaho. He attended the University of West Virginia and graduated from the University of Washington in 1959. Mike jumped at NCSB 1955-58, and Fairbanks 1964-65. He served in the Army 1960-62 and started his forestry career in Alaska with the BLM. Mike worked at 19 different locations for the BLM and USFS during his 30 years with the agencies before retiring in 1985. His last assignment was at Missoula as the Assistant Director of Fire Management. During his career he was instrumental in the development of the National Fire Academy and the National Fire Center. After retirement he established the Community Forestry Program while working for the city of Lewiston, Idaho.
