Ian, 42, died August 7, 2017. He was born May 2, 1975, in Woking, England. After completing his secondary schooling in England, he finished up his studies at the North American Institute of Aviation in South Carolina. He joined Eagle Airlines but his passion for the outdoors and rock climbing led to a career change in 2007 when he started wildland firefighting with the USFS. Ian jumped at Missoula in 2011, West Yellowstone in 2013 and transferred to NIFC in 2014.
