John, 94, died October 5, 2017. After graduating from Flathead High School in 1941 he joined the Navy in 1942 and spent three years with the Seabees in the South Pacific during WWII. After the war John graduated from the University of Montana in 1950 with a degree in forestry. He was called back into the Navy during the Korean War and served another year and a half. John began his career with the Forest Service in 1951 and moved to Missoula in 1963 and retired in 1977. After retirement he returned to the Flathead Valley where he would live the rest of his life. John jumped at Missoula during the 1947-48 seasons.
