Obituary
Clarence died December 4, 2017, in Huntington, New York. He was the last living member of the original Test Platoon of the 555th Parachute Infantry known as the Triple Nickles. He was interred at the Calverton National Cemetery in Calverton, New York. Clarence was born in Manhattan June 12, 1921, the 15th of 16th siblings. His maternal grandfather was a former slave who fought for the Union in the Civil War. He joined the New York National Guard in 1939 and was drafted into the Army two years later. After his discharge as a staff sergeant, he worked for the Veterans Administration for many years retiring in 1978
