Obituary
Dave, 57, a retired forester, died Nov. 3, 1997, at Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee. He was born Aug. 21, 1940, in Appleton, Mo., and grew up in the Lake Chelan Valley, graduated from Manson High School, and was a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division of the U.S. Army. Dave earned his bachelor of science degree in Forestry from the University of Montana in 1969. Dave loved the woods and took his family throughout the Northwest as he moved up the ranks of the U.S. Forest Service. He trained as a smokejumper with his brother, Gale, at the Missoula, and worked in fire control and timber throughout his career. Dave jumped at Missoula during the 1968-69 seasons.
