Obituary
Gary, 83, died December 15, 2020, due to complications from Pulmonary fibrosis. A lifelong resident of Hamilton, Montana, he was born November 1, 1947, and graduated from Hamilton H.S. in 1966. He enlisted in the Marines Corps and enrolled at the University of Montana after his time in the service. Gary graduated with his Bachelor’s degree from the U. of Montana and the earned a Master’s in Economics from Columbia University. After graduate school Gary jumped at Missoula 1980-83. He then took a position at Rocky Mountain Labs where he worked over 27 years in the Visual, Medical Arts, and Scientific Photography department. One of Gary’s proudest accomplishments came in 2012, after his retirement, when he published an article in Montana: The Magazine of Western History about RML’s role in a yellow fever vaccine during World War II. His passion for the outdoors, natural resources, and the environment, led to an annual canoe trip to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area in Minnesota or mountain biking trips in Moab.
