Obituary
Ed died January 12, 2023, in Reno, Nevada. He was born December 29, 1929, in Spring Canyon, Utah. He graduated from Carbon H.S. in Price, Utah, in 1947. After high school, he worked in the coal mines of Spring Canyon during the summer months and odd jobs during school to put himself through college. In the spring of 1951, he graduated from Utah State University (Logan, UT) with a degree in Forestry Management. Upon graduation, he worked for the USFS and jumped the 1951 season at Missoula. In October of that year, he was drafted into the Army and was stationed in Anchorage, Alaska and was a member of the Army's Alaskan Command. After two years of service as a 2nd Lieutenant, he returned to work for the Forest Service and was a timber boss based out of Eugene, Oregon and then Craig, Colorado. Continuing with his government service, in 1955 he began his long-standing and career with the BLM. His work included the construction and management of the Job Corp Center in Price (UT), many range-management leadership positions at various BLM Offices located in Colorado, Utah, and Idaho, and a four-year stint at the Department of Interior Office in Washington D.C. In 1975 he transferred to Reno (NV) where he started his final chapter with the BLM working as the Deputy State Director, Chief of Resources.
