Obituary
Peer, 79, died October 22, 2023, inn Oakland, California, of complications of Alzheimer's disease. He was born August 16, 1944, in Portland, Oregon, where he graduated from Sunset H.S. before getting a degree in Political Science from Oregon State University. Peer then joined the Navy and served with Fleet Logistics Squadron VR-30, where he made lifelong friends and flew throughout the Pacific and on the Apollo 17 recovery mission. He flew for Transam¬erica before joining AGS/ DNA Plant Technology in 1983 as their Safety and Maintenance Manager, where he was valued for his ability to fix or build anything from carpentry to electrical to plumbing. Peer got an M.S. in Safety from USC and worked in biotech until retirement. He was known for wearing his signature uniform of jeans and a polo shirt for over 40 years. Peer jumped at NCSB in 1967.
