Obituary
Carter, 89, died May 2, 2022, in Fairfax, Virginia, after a year-long battle with lung cancer. He was born in February 1933. Carter earned his BA in Chemistry from Wesleyan University in 1954 and his Ph.D. in Geology from John Hopkins University in 1959. He was a contract Geologist at the Smithsonian Institution for 28 years. Carter jumped at Grangeville during the 1952 season.
