Obituary
Dave died on December 14, 2023, in McCall of pancreatic cancer. He was born on November 11, 1955, in Boulder, Colorado, and later moved to California with his family where he graduated from high school in San Bernardino. He attended Lassen Community College in Susanville and received an Associate's degree in Fire Technology. His wildfire suppression experience included working on a Los Angeles County fire engine and the Texas Canyon Hotshots. Dave jumped in McCall 1980-84 and totaled 66 career jumps with 29 fire jumps. After smokejumping, Dave worked on a helitack rappeller crew out of Price Valley on the Payette N.F. and for many years as station foreman at Warren, Idaho, also on the Payette. Dave retired from the Payette but stayed in McCall to pursue his love of fly fishing, backpacking, hiking, and skiing (Nordic and Alpine) in the Idaho outdoors.
