Obituary
John died January 26, 2024, in Alto, New Mexico, after a long battle with ALS. He was born June 4, 1957, in Salt Lake City, Utah. John was a career USFS employee and jumped at McCall 1987-88. He was a member of the Ruidoso Hotshots before jumping. John moved to Silver City in 1965 and attended schools there and in Tucson, Arizona. From his brother Bruce: "Perhaps some stories of interest regarding John would include how he once got a speeding ticket while riding a bicycle on Swan Street in Silver City before he had a driving license. How he was seriously injured in a car wreck when his VW Bug was totaled while coming into Silver City and he was thrown out of the car, through the windshield, while still holding onto the steering wheel. He purchased a lot in Alto, and erected a large Tepee style tent on the site and lived there the first winter while he built the home he lived in. He was a fan of tequila and mescal and shared a shot with friends on his last day on this earth."
