Obituary
Bernd is listed as deceased but with no background data. He was born June 8, 1940, in East Prussia and migrated to the US with his parents. His picture is in the Pasco, Washington High School yearbook in 1957. The Fairbanks newspaper has articles about him when he almost lost life in 1962 when was accidentally shot by hunting partner. A July 1965 article tells about a 200-mile hike from the Alaska Coast to Arctic Village. The hike took 22 days living off the land and Bernd lost 20 pounds. Bernd is listed as a Professional Alaska Hunting Guide. He jumped at Fairbanks 1966-69.
