Obituary
Hubert died in a logging accident near Cave Junction, Oregon, June 18, 1952, when a log he was bucking rolled over him. He was born September 13, 1914, in Lynn, Arkansas. Hubert was a member of the Church of Christ and was drafted into Civilian Public Service from Elk River, Idaho, in 1942. His occupation at the time was listed as "Woodsman." He joined the smokejumper unit in 1944 and made eleven training and two fire jumps that season. Hubert again resumed working in the logging industry after his discharge and was living in Central Point, Oregon at the time of his death. He is the uncle of John Blackwell (MYC-64).
