Obituary
Mike died July 17, 1987, while working as a contract faller on the Reynolds Creek Fire on the Twisp Ranger District. He was hit by a 20-foot section of a hazard tree he was felling. He was survived by his wife, Theresa, daughter Michelle and son Jeff. Mike had over 50 USFS jumps and was part of the Region 8 crew stationed in the Southern Region in 1976. In 2003, Bill Moody (NCSB-57) led a group of 20 of Mike's family and friends to the site of the accident and placed a bronze memorial plaque on a rock near where Mike lost his life.
