Obituary
Hugh, 74, a Missoula jumper (47, 48, 52-61) and foreman, died from lymphoma August 4, 2003 at a hospital near his home in Mesa, Arizona. He was born in Kalispell in 1929. Following his smokejumping career, he worked for the Forest Service's Division of Fire Management in Washington, D.C. He then was a disaster manager for the President's Office of Emergency Preparedness Region VIII in Bothell, Washington and, following his retirement from the Federal Government, was director of Emergency Services for the State of Washington. He later worked in disaster services for the State of Arizona.
