The Northwest Section of the Ninety- Nines, Incorporated, was first chartered in 1930, but lack of members and the difficulty of communication resulted in relatively little activity prior to 1940. The Washington Chapter, the first chapter in the Northwest, was organized in that same year, 1930. Today, the Section has grown to sixteen chapters, including the Eastern Washington Chapter, chartered in 1965. The Eastern Washington Chapter expanded to include Eastern Washington and Northwestern Idaho, and was renamed the Intermountain Chapter.
