Photograph from a series held by the National Archives on the first African American Airborne unit, the 555th Parachute Infantry Battalion, also known as the Triple Nickle. This photograph features a troop carrier used by Triple Nickle based in Pendleton, Oregon to fight fires during World War II. The photograph is taken from the window of another Triple Nickle troop carrier.
