Description

Robert Sletner was born in Spokane, Washington in 1925. Sletner enlisted with the United States Navy in 1942. In 1950, he married Lucille Todd. Sletner died in 2004.

This interview is about Sletner's service in the Navy during World War II. Sletner describes his early enlistment at the age of 17 and his experience sailing on a Liberty ship delivering personnel and cargo. Sletner described his responsibilities, the ship's armaments, and the various ports he visited including Buenos Aires, Hobart (Australia), and Calcutta.
