Description

Glen Yake was born on October 1, 1919 in Spokane, Washington to Henrietta and William Yake. He graduated from Lewis and Clark High School. Yake was drafted into the United States Army in January 7, 1942 during World War II. Eventually Yake ended up in the Corps of Engineers and was selected for officers' training school. After the war, Yake married Irene Olsen, his wife of 52 years. Yake was hired as an assistant city water engineer for the city of Spokane in 1949. As a city engineer, Yake worked on several projects including the Waste-to-Energy Plant, improvements to Upriver Dam, and planning for Expo '74. Yake died December 21, 2009 in Redmond, Washington.
