Description

Herman Littman was born May 29, 1919 in Chicago, Illinois to Abraham and Mollie Littman. Littman attended the Chicago Art Institute in 1939 before enlisting in the United States Army during World War II. Littman married Lucille Whatley in 1942 before serving in the 82nd Airborne as a paratrooper. Littman was catpured by Axis forces in the invasion of Sicily serving time in a POW camp in Shubin, Poland. After returning stateside, he graduated with a post-graduate Masters at Eastern Washington State College. Littman continued to serve with the United States military, retiring in 1971. The Littmans settled in Spokane, Washington, and taught courses at Fairchild Air Force Base and Spokane Falls Community College. Littman moved to Bow, in northwest Washington in 2015 before passing away in 2017.
