Description

The photo was taken on April 9, 1914 which was the day of the first practice game of the season of the Northwestern League. The game was played between the Spokane Indians and Washington State College. The person in center is likely a Washington State College batter, who is trying to beat out the throw to first base, which he is running towards. The Spokane Indians first baseman, which would have been either George “Highpockets” Kelly or Walter Holke, is partially obscured by the baserunner.
