Description
A jumper models a jumpsuit with the main parachute (back) and emergency parachute (front). The suit includes a helmet and facemask. He stands near the Stinson Reliant aircraft. The photograph was taken during smokejumping experiments in Winthrop, Washington in 1939. The caption on the photograph reads "Okanogan National Forest - Forest Service (khaki) suit on jumper ready to enter plane, showing chest and backpack." This image is a mounted print used for reference by the National Archives.
