Abstract

In this letter to his sister, Evans writes that his division consists of 12 regiments on 15 boats heading toward Vicksburg. He also describes the cotton plantations near the river and fires set near Delta, Mississippi. He also writes about being on shore and witnessing several building lit on fire by Union troops.
