Abstract
Accessibility as a topic permeates all areas of musical expression. Although many people express a desire to be ‘musically capable’, there are many roadblocks to creating music. These challenges include the time required to learn instruments or other musical skills, the price of those instruments and recording equipment, or access to musical training. This project seeks to make an especially daunting facet of music creation-- namely, sound synthesis, accessible to anyone. To enable access to music making, this device employs the use of an instrument control surface familiar to many: the video game controller.
