Abstract
The Commercialization Academy is a program that teaches EWU students how to take an idea and turn it into a start up business. Students from any major can participate as all skills and experiences can be valuable in a business. But also, because the number one thing a start up needs is time put into it. My experience at the academy taught me many things and gave me the opportunity to bring a product I have always thought about into reality. Lessons in self-marketing, product research, market research, pitching, and how/when to pivot. I also had to learn skills along the way. From 3D modeling, consumer surveying, and navigating a proforma. All these skills and lessons learned finally culminated in my first product and a business from which to sell it.
