Abstract
This research paper analyses the identity development and experiences of a second-generation Filipino immigrant and the relationship that they have to their home country and the United States. To do so, we held an interview with the respondent and recorded their responses. These results showed that identity formation is not a linear process and that there are a variety of pan-ethnic or mixed relationships that immigrants can have with their parent’s country and their current residential country. The findings of this study can be used to challenge current theories of assimilation in order to gain a full understanding of the immigrant experience.
