Dave died October 20, 2017, after an extended illness. He was born November 3, 1942, in Fosston, MN. Dave graduated from Bemidji State University in Minnesota and moved to Montana and completed graduate work at the University of Montana. Beside his work as a smokejumper, Dave worked for the National Park Service and the State of Montana. He retired from the Montana University System, Office of Higher Education. Dave jumped at Missoula 1964, 65, 67, 68, and from West Yellowstone in 1966.
