Obituary

Pat died September 20, 1984, following a massive stroke. He lied about his age and joined the smokejumpers at age 16 in 1951. After a good season in 1951, he had to lay out for a season once his age was discovered. He returned in 1953 and jumped through 1957. Pat graduated from the University of Idaho in 1957 with a degree in Finance and Economics. He entered the Marine Corps and took officer training at Quantico serving in Southeast Asia and Camp Pendleton until his discharge in 1961. He returned to McCall and jumped the 1961 season. That fall he went to work for the First Security Bank in Boise and served with the Idaho Marine Corps Reserves. In 1965 he suffered a serious stroke and was diagnosed with an inoperable brain aneurysm. Several strokes followed over the years until his death in 1984.
