Obituary
Ken, 100, died April 11, 2024, in Wanamingo, Minnesota. He was born April 2, 1924, in Welch, Minnesota, and graduated from Red Wing H.S. in 1943. Ken served as a medic attached to the 348th Engineers and landed at Omaha Beach on D-Day, June 6, 1944. He worked with the first air evacuation hospital until the fall of 1944 when he transferred to the 502 Parachute Infantry Regiment of the 101ast Airborne Division. Ken’s Division was sent to Bastogne in December and, after two weeks, was overrun by the Germans and he was taken prisoner on January 2, 1945. He was liberated by American troops on his 21st birthday, April 2, 1945. Ken married Willene “Billie” Dalluhn on May 6, 1950. Ken and Billie lived most of their life in Wanamingo raising six children. Ken worked as a carpenter, Goodhue County Building Inspector for 10 years, and photographer. Ken served on the Wanamingo City Counsel for 20 years, the Wanamingo Volunteer Fire Department, and the Wanamingo VFW Quamme Post 186. Ken jumped at McCall during the 1947 season.
