Description

Parade float celebrating the newly formed Chinese Republic in 1913. The float is adorned with the flag of the first flag of the Chinese Republic, an umbrella decorated with lanterns, and sides that resemble a long creature, perhaps a dragon. The people on the float appear to be of Asian descent. An article on page 6 of the June 17, 1913 Spokane Chronicle indicates the parade was on June 17, 1913. Cohn Bros. furniture store, which was on Monroe and Sprague is in the background.
