Description
Early smokejumper pilot Dick Johnson. Dick's brother, Bob, started Johnson Flying Service, which was contracted by the United States Forest Service to perform numerous smokejumper and cargo drops from 1939 through 1977. Dick Johnson Was involved with the smokejumping program from the experiments in Winthrop, Washington up until his death in 1945.
The photograph is part of the Steve Smith Collection.
