Obituary
Jack died September 30, 2023, at his home in Missoula after a 12-year battle with kidney cancer. Jack and his twin brother, Jimmie, were born February 14, 1944, in Seattle, Washington. The family settled in Missoula where they went to high school. Jack had a long career as a smokejumper jumping at Missoula 1965,70,72-78,80,81,83-85, Grangeville 1966,71, and West Yellowstone 1967. Jack attended Univ. of Montana and after three years transfers to Montana State Univ. to pursue a degree in Architecture. He accepted a position with the USFS as an architect which allowed him to continue his passion for fighting fires. Jack had a long successful career with the Forest Service which eventually took him Denver, Colorado.
