Obituary

Brett died October 27, 2023. He was born March 15, 1984. Brett's early years were spent in Central Oregon. The family moved to Juneau, Alaska, when he was six-years old. He graduated from Juneau-Douglas H.S. where he played quarterback and was awarded the Offensive Player of the Year for the State of Alaska in 2001. Brett continued his education at Eastern Oregon University in La Grande, Oregon. Summers were spent working for the USFS. He eventually became a smokejumper in 2005 jumping out of Redmond, Oregon for two seasons. He then returned to school and graduated in December 2007 with a B.S degree in Natural Resources from Oregon State University. In the spring of 2008, he went to work for Alaska Fire Services in Fairbanks where he continued as a smokejumper, then fire dispatch, fire specialist, and most recently, as the Unit Aviation Manager for Upper Yukon Zone. A career in fire control that encompassed nearly 20 years. Brett married the love of his life Meghan Henderson in the Fall of 2012 at La Grande, Oregon. They were blessed to have two children, a daughter Adaline, and a son Grady. Brett jumped at Redmond 2005-07 and at Fairbanks 2008-11. He is the son of Scott Fairchild (RAC-74).
