Obituary

Omar, 79, died December 30, 2023, died due to complications from COVID. He was born August 11, 1944, in Panama City, Panama, where he grew up and graduated from Balboa H.S., Canal Zone, in 1962. He earned in AA from Canal Zone College and a BA from New Mexico State Univ. in 1965. In 1968 he earned a degree in Applied Science and Land Surveying from Montana State University and another AA in Medical Assistance from Santa Fe Community College in 2014. Omar served in the Army 1968-73 as a Captain in Vilseck, Germany. Omar had a diverse work career: USFS Trail Maintenance 1978, Helicopter firefighter 1981-82, USFS Smokejumper 1983-84, survey party chief 1990-91, and several other surveying positions in Santa Fe until he took over the care of his parents. He lived in Santa Fe, N.M. until moving to Los Alamos, N.M. after the passing of his parents.
