Abstract
This composition, titled “Out at the course,” is a modified version of sonata form emphasizing variation through a story about two people represented by two musical themes that drift apart. The story is told through the lens of three separate games of disc golf at different points in their life. Through contrasting variations of the themes, the music seeks to evoke how the characters feel and their state of mind; mirroring how their relationship changes over time.
