Abstract
Small farmers do not have access to a platform made just for selling their crops. Because of this they often struggle to sell their produce before it spoils, forcing them to accept low prices, pay for costly storage, or rely on middlemen who take a share of their profits. This project addresses that issue by developing an app that enables farmers to list and sell their crops directly to consumers. The goal is to give farmers more control over their sales, reduce waste, and increase their earnings.
The app's frontend is built using the Ionic framework and works on both Android and iOS devices. The backend API is built with ASP.NET and hosted on Microsoft Azure. Users can easily create posts detailing what crops they are selling, edit those posts to update information, and find contact information of both buyers and sellers. We have also programmed an admin panel that shows user information, user post history and general app analytics.
By creating an app specifically for farmers to sell crops, we eliminate the need for middlemen and help farmers sell their produce faster, at fairer prices, reducing waste and storage costs. While this app accomplishes all that, our future work includes payment integration, real-time notifications, and a messaging system so that users could conduct all of their business on our app. We are incredibly proud of what we have accomplished, and hope that our contributions ease the lives of farmers worldwide.
