Hobbie, 88, died April 29, 2019. He was raised in Sacramento and graduated from the University of Idaho with a degree in forestry. Hob spent 36 years with the Forest Service in positions from Timber Management, District Ranger and retiring as assistant to the Forest Service Chief of Administration in Washington, D.C. After retiring, he moved to North Carolina where he ran a computer consulting business. Hobbie jumped at Cave Junction during the 1949 season.
