Obituary
Jack died March 20, 2024, in Ecuador where he lived for the past 14 years. From Larry Moore (IDC-59): “It is my understanding that Jack died of complications of Covid and pneumonia. To me he was a rather amazing guy who became a full-fledged dentist and, after a hiatus of 22+years, gave it up and came back to jump fires at the age of 46. Word had it that he wanted to apply and jump in Alaska but was thought to be too old. So, he came back to McCall in1988 and jumped until 1997 averaging close to 10 fires a season in the 13 seasons he jumped. From there I understand he bought a small farm near Parma (Ecuador) and lived there until he passed. He was an adventurous, humorous, and lovable sort of guy and will be missed by many. Rest in Peace Jack.” Jack jumped at McCall 1963-65, and 1988-97.
